The Non-Existent Friday

I finished my rough draft last night....or this morning rather. It was about 7:15 when it was completed. That's right, an all-nighter. Brad, my roommate, was staying up all nihgt so that he could register and we had a blast just being dumb all evening. We jammed to music, played checkers, and then ate breakfast for a change. I went to class and then came back home and went to sleep.

I woke up about 5p and watched ESPN for a little while. Man, I miss getting to watch T.V. I really never have any time. The Astros are stinkin' it up this season so far. We're abolut 20 games into the season and already on a six game losing streak, putting them seven games back. Oh well, 20 games is only the beginning. I groomed and fed Larry (who, by the way, is my guide dog...how could I have forgoten to mention him?) at around 8 and got the phone call from my mom that my youngest brother, John, wanted to come and stay with me. They arrived about 9 and we ate dinner.

I am getting really excited about the summer, I am so ready to have some free time. I want to start working on some music that has been on my mind for a while. I am heading to Lufkin tomorrow and plan on doing some work around the house to make the transition home a smooth one. Until tomorrow...

Just Another Thursday

So, today started REALLY REALLY late. I think I actually got out of bed at one in the afternoon. If you are a nerd and look at what time posts are made (which sadly, I am), you would have noticed I was up rather late. I do not have classes on Thursday, so, it's my day to catch up on rest.

I did a little "housekeeping" around the dorm. This place is getting really old and too small. I'm ready for my room at home. I worked on a recording we did at the Wesley last night for about an hour. We (Tracing Mason) have a song called "Reliable" that we're finished with and used it in worship. It was acoustic/percussion rather than full band, but it turned out wonderfully. I am tweaking it to use on my demo of stuff. I am trying to put together a demo of me playing so that if anyone is interested, they can get a rough idea about my style and what not. After that I headed to pratice with Ryan Finnerud (a worship leader at Harmony Hill Baptist in Lufkin).

Pratice went well...I played on the drumset that was set up there. This set is a really cool one, nicely tuned/good cymbals, but it's the same set as mine. He just tunes his way differently. That made the feel of the music go a little differently. Ryan is working with some new musicians and that is always tricky, but he handled it well. I really feel that God is sharpening my skills because Ryan continuously told me that I "went" right "where" he wanted me to. Transitions are one thing I understand, and think work effectively. Ryan and I don't play together often, so I guess he doesn't know that.

So now I am off to work on a rough draft for English about technology in society. Sounds like a real "wake-me-up" topic. Until tomorrow...

Ain't Life Sweet?

I neglected to mention one really cool thing that I have been blessed with, and that is my wonderful and loving girlfriend, Angela. She's been a source of happiness and encouragement for about two years now since we've been dating (and even before). She's a very special person that I am quite certain God has intended to be with such an odd guy like me. I am very thankful for all that she does, and all that she is. Just figured I would share that so you wouldn't think I had a completely boring life. Til' tommorrow...

Giving In

Great! I have seen so many of these stinkin' things I am giving in to getting one myself. There is a small problem with this, USUALLY, when people create one, they have stuff to put into it. I've got nothin'!

So essentially, I am a 20-year-old, college sophomore who is majoring in Communications (Radio/Television w/a minor in Advertising). I have been at this school for 2 years and only have 1 to account for...Yeah, mom and dad were REAL happy about that. I am a musician, drummer/percussionist, who enjoys using what gifts God gave me to praise Him with. I am very passionate about leading worship and feel blessed to have the opportunity to be able to. What else can I tell all of my nonexistent readers? Did I mention I was pretty much blind, one of those details that slips the mind. Have a guide dog and everything, so not just sorta blind, it's more along the lines of "holy cow, that dude is stinkin' blind".....never let it get in the way, EVER.

Right now, the semester is winding down and I am nervous about grades and going home. Nothing good can come from either one. See, my family is what you would call, dysfunctional, and organization is not a word in "our" vocabulary. I've been told I am lumped into that category, but I beg to differ. So, I'm going home, getting 2 jobs, and hoping to play some gigs this summer. I am in a band, Tracing Mason, which is not really a band. See, I consider a group a "band" when you can't count the number of gigs you have played on one hand. This is no band! I also lead worship at church and sometimes outside of church with a good friend of mine, Todd Wright. I have fun playing with both (Tracing and Todd) and honestly hope to continue to do so.

So, back to summer plans...working 40+ hours a week, hoping to gig a lot, and interestingly enough, I am gathering some equipment and piecing together a recording rig to begin compiling my original work together. If it isn't enough that I love drums and like to piece together a great set, I want to buy some professional sound equipment...I'm going to need those 40+ hours and gigs!

Well, I hope to update often, and I hope you all will return and join in on my life...
